Don Sanderson BA (Hons) studied Japanese at SOAS (University of London) and the Japanese universities of Hokkaido and Kyoto where he was a Monbusho Research Fellow (文部科学省, Monbukagakushō Scholar) specialising in Japanese language and literature.
His book translations have been published by Macmillan, Kodansha International, Routledge (Taylor and Francis Group) and the University of Tokyo Press, amongst others.
